The bridge will provide a safe and accessible connection for pedestrians and cyclists to downtown and the river valley.

About the Project

A new active transportation connection over McDougall Hill Road, from MacDonald Drive Promenade to the Funicular, has been identified to provide safe and accessible connection to the River Valley, the Funicular and downtown amenities.

Currently, there is no connection over McDougall Hill Road, which has resulted in an increase in jaywalking. This new bridge will provide an accessible space for pedestrians and cyclists, without impacting vehicle traffic. McDougall Hill Bridge will also provide a connection to the Downtown Bike Network (through 100 Avenue) and enhance the Heritage Trail. While providing a safe connection for pedestrians and cyclists, McDougall Hill Bridge will be a signature piece of infrastructure entering the downtown core.

Public engagement opportunities will be an important part of this project. Information about upcoming opportunities will be available on this webpage.
